Steve Jobs, the long-time CEO and co-founder of Apple, passed away today (5/10/2011) after a long fight with pancreatic cancer.

I still remember my first computer was an Apple II. Well not exactly. It was a cheaper clone, but still it was from there that I picked up my computer skills. Anyway, the world would mourn for such a visionary. Condolense messages not only from Apple, but also from Microsoft, Google, including President Obama and many others paid tribute to this visionary.
Passing of life is never easy and always rather sudden and a shock to your system whenever a person you know moves on. This year with the passing of my dad-in-law and brother-in-law, news of such things tends to take you aback.
Steve Jobs on mortality
In his commencement address at Stanford University in 2005, after he had just came back from cancer the first time, Jobs said:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

A Chinaman decides to retire and move to Australia after 50 years of living in Shanghai.
He bought a home on a small piece of land . A few days after moving in. The friendly Aussie neighbour decides to go across and welcome the new guy to the region. He goes next door but on his way up the drive-way he sees the Chinaman running around his frontyard chasing about 10 hens.
Not wanting to interrupt these ‘Chinese customs’, he decides to put the welcome on hold for the day.

OMG! Only happens in Malaysia!
How can the Kancil car end up like this in a puddle of water? This is what happens when heavy rain washes out the soil, and any unsuspecting driver just roll over eroded part would cause the cave in and of course the car would be submerge!
Woe to the car driver having to endure this mishap…

Would you believe that? This optical illusion have my eyes befuddled. The blue stripe and the green stripe is actually the same colour! You can check it with any pixel checker software, they give you the same colour value (#00FF96).

Here’s the explanation:
The reason why we are perceiving one color as different colors is because of the other colors surrounding the stripes. Each eye has six to seven million cones, which are concentrated in a central yellow spot known as the macula. These cones measure color in different wavelengths, overlapping in some of them. Our brain then compares those signals in an antagonistic manner, measuring differences in wavelengths between them. When some colors are combined, the brain can’t process the info from the cones correctly and we simply get confused.

Dear Photograph,
I was astounded, but I hadn’t had time to consider what I was seeing.

Would you believe that? IE users have lower IQ! The survey was done by AptiQuant, a psychometric consulting company based in Canada. They were collecting information from 101,326 individuals over the age of 16 from US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. The IQ test survey participants were found online when they found out about the survey either organically or via PPC advertising campaign. The thing was they were not aware about their browser preference when their IQ was being surveyed.
The resulting conclusion from the survey indicated IE users scored a little over 80, Firefox, Chrome and Safari users fared better at 110. And the highest IQ (125) was from Opera users. My friend Ryan is going to gloat about this since he is an Opera fan and he is a top student!

Got this in my inbox, and I thought hey when a job is done, either word “complete” or “finish” can be used interchangeably. But when reading the rest of the explanation it was so funny that I have to repost it out! Enjoy!
The difference between ‘COMPLETE’ & ‘FINISH’.
People say there is no difference between ’COMPLETE’ & ‘FINISH’.
But there is ! When you marry the right one, you are COMPLETE.
And when you marry the wrong one, you are FINISHED. And when the “right one” catches you with the “wrong one”, you are “COMPLETELY FINISHED”!! And that is your English lesson for the day.

Lomo Wallpaper
Nice wallpaper. Using Lomo for the pics, eh? Maybe I should create a mobile pix wallpaper, after all my mobile phone with a build in camera is always with me. Only problem is the lack of enhance vivid colours. Then again it has always been “it is not the camera, but the person behind the camera” that a photo is well taken! Yeah!
